Having served my apprenticeship with Ray Brown at Time repair services on the Isle of Wight I was rewarded with a full partnership, we built the business up over several years with over 120 jewellers sending us parcels of work from all over the UK and Ireland and even from America on a weekly basis.
I decided to move to Sydney Australia and worked with Karl Menick at centre point tower but after a couple of years I decided Australia wasn’t for me and so I moved back to England and started working at Bath clockworks, this proved to be an excellent choice as Alistair introduced me to the wonderful world of Antique clock repairs and restoration and introduced me to many skilled craftsmen in their own field of restoration , to this day I still work with them, the exceptional Maggie on painted dials, Giles Reynolds Hart, Chris Moss and Rob Tandy on the cases and furniture side to name just a few.
In 1999 I set up Somerset Clocks and worked happily at my work shop at Rookery Farm in Binegar Somerset for over 20 years but in 2019 I decided to move to Cornwall and set up Antique clock repairs ltd in Truro.
Although Cornwall is a lovely place I decided to move back to Somerset at the end of 2024 as Somerset is home and where my heart really lies.
I’m looking forward to seeing my old clients again and meeting new ones .
All the very best Rik
